Football Score

In football, how many possible scoring combinations are there that would result in a team having 10 points on the scoreboard?

(Ignore defensive points on PAT attempts)

The possible scores to consider are a safety (2 points), a field goal (3 points), a touchdown with no extra-point/PAT or two-point conversion (6 points), a touchdown with an extra-point (7 points), and a touchdown with a two-point conversion (8 points). Use these values to figure out the combination that equal 10. Remember, the question is simply looking for 10 points on the scoreboard , the order they are scored does not matter – except that you cannot have an extra-point or two-point conversion without first scoring a touchdown (unless you are on Defense, but this type of score was specifically excluded from the question).

5 safeties: 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10
2 safeties and 2 field goals: 2 + 2 + 3 + 3 = 10
1 touchdown with no extra-point and 2 safeties: 6 + 2 + 2 = 10
1 touchdown with extra-point and 1 field goal: 7 + 3 = 10
1 touchdown with two-point conversion and 1 safety: 8 + 2 = 10
